“The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. I don’t exactly know what to make of this information, however. I looked at Windows’s Event Viewer and found that the system had logged a good number of critical issues whose source is described as “Kernel-Power.” Three occurred in the last hour, which is consistent with my crashes. I already tried validating the game files through Steam, and it actually found one file that was broken, but I experienced another crash after doing this, so apparently that wasn’t the root of the issue. I have most of the settings maxed, but my framerate is fine. My specs are: i5-4460, GTX 970, 16 GB RAM, Windows 10 Home, 1080p monitor. I tried running GPU-Z to see if my temps were out of control, but they were totally reasonable. The game doesn’t freeze/lock up, and it doesn’t crash to desktop.
I do that a lot, though, so I imagine that’s just a coincidence. It hasn’t yet happened in combat yet only when running around the game world, and often after some fiddling around with menus or something. I usually won’t be doing anything especially fancy and the bug occurs. For some reason I keep running into situations where the game will not only crash but take my entire computer with it. Hi folks, I’ve run into a rather serious issue with The Witcher 3 lately.
