If you still get a problem with access denied then I would start a new thread in the BC Malware Removal Forum. See if you can now use Rufus or Netbootin. This has higher privileges than the regular Admin account. Reboot and click on the new Administrator Account. Right click and select Run As Administrator. I downloaded both of them and the linuxmint seems to be an ISO file but when I mount it I don't know what to do from there. So maybe I'm not as good at things as I thought but I can't figure out how to work these programs you are asking me to run here.
We can also use it to copy Windows registry hives from the Regback folder because Windows 7 automatically backs up the registry and you may have registry hive dates just before the problem. If it does not then we know it's not a hardware problem and something specific to Windows. Boot to the Mint Desktop and open the Open Office Application and see if the problem exists. If not you can burn the iso to a DVD by right clicking and selecting Burn Disk Image. Use Rufus with a USB flash drive if you have a spare one. Mint Cinnamon is a good distro if you don't have one. If no Restore Point then the next thing I would do is boot a live linux distro if you have one on DVD or USB and test the keyboard. If this problem just happened do you have a Restore Point date just before this problem?
I'm not sure if this is a hardware problem or not.
